Lake Blanche. This is a pretty strenuous hike, but only about 3.5 miles each way. When you get up there it is SO serene. Great place to get away for thinking.

Silver Lake Flats. If you're willing to hike a few miles (or drive over *really* bad dirt roads), you'll get to Silver Lake Flats (up American Fork Canyon). Go early in the year while the lake is full. Took this picture of a cow moose while we were there.

Cascade Springs. You can get here from Midway or American Fork Canyon. It's a very strolly not-had walk around these beautiful springs. Incredibly beautiful. I'd definitely recommend taking the kids.

Horsetail Falls. I've hiked this trail several times and it is a real good 2.5 mile hike, moderate/rigorous. The trail takes you to a lookout for Horsetail Falls, as well as several incredible lookouts (such as this) that you can scramble and explore. This is a must-hike for sure.

Upper Falls. These falls are above Horsetail Falls by about a mile or two. Once you pass the Horsetail Falls lookout (trailhead in Alpine, Utah), the hike gets extremely rigorous. The trail to the upper falls is definitely not for beginners.

Mount Olympus. This is a doozy of a hike. More than 2,200 feet in three miles. It takes you to the top of the eastern mountains and lets you see a hundred miles in every direction. Take lots of water.

Lake Blanche. This is a pretty strenuous hike, but only about 3.5 miles each way. When you get up there it is SO serene. Great place to get away for thinking.

Lookout above Lake Blanche. If you keep hiking above Lake Blanche, and then scramble up some big sandstone rocks, you'll see some of the most spectacular views. Up Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Guardsman Pass. Absolutely gorgeous. Up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Strenuous Hike.

The Pahvant Range between Salina and Fillmore, Utah. My dad and brother and I went and "shot" elk for a couple days. No guns, just cameras. The mountains were tough hiking, but absolutely gorgeous, especially at sunrise.

Brighton Lakes. This hike is up by Brighton Ski Resort and will take you to two gorgeous lakes, one above the other. As a word of warning, don't try to walk all the way around the second lake, you'll get stuck.

Cecret Lake. Moderate hike up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Came across a couple big ol' Bull Moose (visit the link for pics).

Timpanogos Cave. Two mile hike. Moderate. Kids can do it thanks to the paved trail. The cave is very very cool.

This is Guardsman's Pass up Big Cottonwood Canyon. It's about 13 miles round-trip and quite strenuous in places. This is a little mocumentary we made while on the hike.

The Lower Falls up Bell's Canyon. This is a moderate to strenuous hike. If you miss the turnoff like we did it's REALLY strenuous. Trailhead is near the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Stewart Falls. This is a great hike for little ones, and is not too far up Provo Canyon.

Doughnut Falls. Have you ever seen an entire river pour down around you through a hole above you? Doughnut Falls is a great hike that you can take the kids on. You'll only be able to see the falls from a distance unless you're prepared to scramble up some somewhat difficult terrain.
