The Pearl - John Steinbeck.... •"For his dream of the future was real and never to be destroyed, and he had said, 'I will go,' and that made a real thing too. To determine to go and to say it was to be halfway there."
The Pearl - John Steinbeck...just as its title suggests, an elegant, simple gem.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. Of course I have read this, anyone who went to high school in the U.S. has probably read this, but I'm eyeing the hardbound vintage-look edition.

My absolute favorite book of all time - also one of my favorite movies (Gregory Peck was the perfect Atticus!) "Courage is not a man with a gun in his hand. It's knowing you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do." - spoken by Atticus Finch To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. My all time favorite book. Can read it over and over again.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. If I could pick a favorite book this would be it. Alas, I cannot.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. Zoey asked me what my favorite book is, I told her "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" She said, you sure like birds!!! lol. I had to break the news that neither book is about birds!
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. This is absolutely my favorite book. Eyeing the hardbound vintage-look edition.
One of my all-time favorite books. - Lawyer Atticus Finch defends the real mockingbird of Harper Lee's classic, Pulitzer Prize-winning novel—a black man charged with the rape of a white woman. Through the eyes of Atticus's children, Scout and Jem Finch, Harper Lee explores with rich humor and unanswering honesty the irrationality of adult attitudes toward race and class in the Deep South of the 1930's.
"To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. President snows favorite book of all time
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee...My Favorite Book and Movie, EVER :-)

Worth Reading, Catch 22, Books Worth, Favorite Book, Books To Read, Joseph Rather
catch 22- Joseph Heller- the brutality of war on the human psyche, how to find the good in the bad, and a sharpe critique of government procedure and red tape- witty and sarcastic and moving
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller - "That's some catch, that Catch-22." The catch is basically: to be released from mandated tasks, you'd have to be classified insane. You'd have to be crazy to want to continue. But, wanting out would declare you sane. If you're sane, you're stuck. Hence, the catch. - MJ
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. "The only book that will make you feel OK about American politics. It's basically a novel version of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"

Great book of two men's travels, where one of the men's 'differences' change the outcome of their decisions every time.
My favorite book, "Of Mice and Men", by John Steinbeck shows how naivete and differences get treated in the real world.
Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck Just turned on the TV the other night and Turner Classic Movies was showing the 1939 Hollywood version. Since the Cardinals were in the process of losing the World Series, I kept flipping back and forth. Really well done! Faithful to the book!

A controversial tale of friendship and tragedy during the Great Depression They are an unlikely pair: George is "small and quick and dark of face"; Lennie, a man of tremendous size, has the mind of a young child. Yet they have formed a "family," clinging together in the face of loneliness and alienation. Laborers in California's dusty vegetable fields, they hustle work when they can, living a hand-to-mouth existence. #OfMiceandMen #JohnSteinbeck #Classic

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil-Shots rang out in Savannah's grandest mansion in the misty, early morning hours of May 2, 1981. Was it murder or self-defense? How to Open a New Book ... seriously awesome! This is from the days when books were the most wonderful thing around. Don't let out the secret but they still are. My grandmother taught me this way of treating books in the 1950's and I still do it that way.
How to Open a New Book ... seriously awesome! This is from the days when books were the most wonderful thing around. Don't let out the secret but they still are.
How to open a new book.... I learned this working in the school library, waaay back in the day!!
The following is not my quote, but I entirely agree! "How to open a new book.... a truly poetic piece. The smell and feel of a new book is wonderful. For me, this is why I will never use a Kindle, no matter how convenient. Part of the pleasure in reading is the physical experience. You don't get that in an electronic book. Sometimes, even in todays fast-paced, multi-media world, we need to take the time to enjoy the simpler, quiet things in life."
How to Open a New Book . . . they actually taught us this in library school eons ago :-)
