Our favorite trend for spring/summer 2012 (as well as spring/summer 1982): color-blocking. Pair bright colors together in unexpected ways, and stop worrying if you match. That's so 2011. Look for bandage-style stripes, geometric shapes and clothes that look like a contemporary painting. These platform shoes were only $9 at Charlotte Russe in the FlatIron Crossing Mall.

This giant of a Good Will store recently opened in north Longmont (1750 Main St.), and it's worth a visit for the sheer square footage of recycled goodies. Find great used home decor, toys, furniture, clothes, shoes, accessories and, as expected, the usual velvet painting or carved wooden Abe Lincoln statue for your hipster home or a gag gift that will surely have everyone talking. (Just ask my father-in-law how he liked his velvet unicorn.)

Divine Divas, 381 Main St., Longmont (divinedivasboutiq...). If the exquisite displays (like this heavenly marriage of Marilyn, Audrey, zerba-print and roses) are not enough reason to send your heart fluttering, the prices will. For just a few bucks (glittery owl-shaped rings for $4 each; earring and necklace sets for less than $15) you can sparkle up your outfit. The shop opened in 2009 on the premise that every woman should be able to shine, no matter her income or the economy.

The Greenwood Wildlife Thrift Shop and Consignment Gallery, 3600 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder. Ever wonder where you can get a pristine TV box with knob dials? Or how you can benefit a wildlife nonprofit by refurnishing your kitchen with a retro table and chairs? This new shop just had its grand opening late May, and the "consignment gallery" upstairs has stolen our hearts. Learn more here:
