Fine Lines: A Few More Buttons

  • LauraBeth Baker

I really like this idea because it's simple enough for a Kindergarten or First Grade student. The project uses recycled magazine pages, buttons, and newspaper to make flowers. It just shows children how easy it is to incorporate seemingly useless materials into art. Newspapers in particular are typically thrown away, and the bulk of the project is newspaper. When I saw the flowers, I immediately thought it would be a great Mother's Day gift for students to take home to their mothers.

I'm going to do a large scale piece of art work for our living room. This would be neat but I'm sure I'll end up doing a painting.
