Hop Scotch. i played for hours with my girlfriends.... Probably one of the all time favorite games to play. You could chalk one almost anywhere and schools and playgrounds had painted ones. We tossed stones, keys, almost anything we could tosd into the squares. nana
HOPSCOTCH - I remember watching (from the safety of the boys handball courts) the girls at my primary school play this game day after day and wondering how the heck it worked.
1960's kids playing. OMG, I loved this game. And it could be played almost anywhere for next to nothing!
Pinner says: We played Hop Scotch on the school playground. And yes, girls always had to wear a dress!! Wow, have things ever changed!!!
Hop Scotch. My favourite game. All you needed was a piece of chalk, a flat bit of sidewalk and a pebble.

Hop Scotch. Two girls. Vintage photo
We played this EVERYWHERE...all we needed was a piece of chalk and a rock and we could spend hours trying to put that rock in the right square and then hop our way to the end. This picture makes me wish I could go outside and play it even now but today I can't even stand on one foot and definitely not hop :-)

Hopscotch. Okay, so me and my best friend Anna, found a piece of ice plant and named him, Arthur Itis. We hid the plant in the playground and would use him to mark our hopscotch boxes until he shriveled up and died. That's a rich childhood memory for me. Playing hopscotch at recess.
#Vintage #Childhood #Toys~ I recall finding just the right item to use as a marker. Small chains used for keys were perfect.
Played hop scotch a lot, they had it painted at the elementary school :-)
Hop Scotch... fun play outside every kid should know how to play!

hopscotch, but we drew different lines--a rectangle that was rounded at the top. It was the source of many hours of fun. Note by Roger Carrier
Hopscotch was so much fun. I think we all wore pigtails - except for Jackie, who had glorious Shirley Temple ringlets.

Hopscotch is a great outdoor game for kids and helps with fine motor control.

Pet Rock, and not only are the people that invented these (genius) that somebody, not me would even buy such as thing. I remember them going through our school halls like crazy!
Pet Rock... I even had one and it did nothing so I threw it in the Cory! hahaha...Can you believe they actually sold these things!
The fad of 1975”Topics included: ‘How to make your Pet Rock roll-over and play dead” and “How to house-train your Pet Rock.’” The idea that pet rocks became such a big thing cracks me up…almost as much as bottled water should…
1975 Pet Rock manual I remember my little brother giving my mom a pet rock....
1975 Pet Rock - the guy made a million & it faded away. A box,straw & a rock.

Transistor Radios: my dad bought be one of the first ones on the market. Of course, we didn't even have FM radio back then
Transistor Radios - My very first radio (when I was 5) was a little green transistor radio. I used to fall asleep listening to AM radio every night.
When I was a very, very young girl, I was drawn to Christianity by tuning into spiritual speakers and praise & worship through my little transistor radio and ear phones.... early 1960's. Have at times in my life regretfully fallen away, but I'm thankful for my tender start back then and especially for the Lord's faithfulness and presence, His unwavering constance in these present times when we all need Him more than ever in this world.
Transistor radios; before every vehicle had a radio, my Dad always kept one in his work truck.
I remember getting my first transistor radio for Christmas one year. I was SO excited! lol

I remember dad buying my brothers and I boxes of these paper roll caps. We each had a cap gun and if you couldn't find it, a rock worked just as well.. BaNG!
Cap gun, roll caps ~ not only did we use them in the toy cap guns but we would take a hard surface like a rock or sidewalk and then hit each cap with a rock to make them pop and smoke. I remember the smell!
Roll caps, a hammer, and a sidewalk! I can still smell that 'cap' smell. We had the actual metal cap gun. They don't make fun toys like that anymore.
Cap gun, roll caps. If you didn't have a gun or didn't want to use one, you got a hammer and slammed them on the sidewalk!!!
We had cap guns, for some reason they seemed to come out more for the fourth of July Parades. They had a smokey smell after being fired too. Roll caps, a hammer, and a sidewalk
Roll caps, a hammer, and a sidewalk! Yes sir remember doing that for sure!! Can you still buy caps?
Roll caps, a hammer, or rock and a sidewalk! I can totally remember how these smelled for some odd reason.
Roll caps. You needed a hammer, a rock and a sidewalk! Or even cap guns! Oh that smell!
Roll caps, a hammer, and a sidewalk! Or just a cap gun : ) I remember these

How to Make Money Doing What You Love - At ten, hop scotch was my passion. I even had a small stone I deemed my lucky pebble, which I carried around in my pocket, just in case I found a pickup game of hot scotch. Since I never turned pro, I've never made any money at it. But hey... they say. "it's never too late try," so I'm going for it.
Hopscotch, the right marker was everything. I preferred a chain, like an old bracelet, because it stayed where it landed.
My niece is showing me how it’s done. In fact, she’s showing us all. It took me many years, countless personal growth books, and lots of money before I could GET what she’s just going ahead and DOING right now. And she isn’t even in high school yet! Nor has she read a single book …
Hopscotch, the right marker was everything. In the South we drew it on dirt! lol
Hopscotch - chalk, a sidewalk and a pebble are all you needed. Great fun!!
Hopscotch - played varieties of this in my childhood
