Responsive classroom: Name progress. - A student at an all-school meeting begins to interrupt a classmate but catches himself mid-sentence. Later, his teacher says to him privately, "Billy, you caught yourself and stopped talking when Jackson was sharing. You're getting better at holding on to your ideas until it's your turn to talk." Knowing that they're on the right track and making visible progress toward their goals motivates children to continue their efforts.
