Create Savvy Storage by Repurposing Craft a Console Create storage space along a short wall by making a slender, low-rise console from an old-fashioned Shaker-style bench -- or two. Display collectibles, books, and more on the top and tuck baskets below for bonus storage. Just refresh the benches with a new coat of paint.

I really <3 vintage & old shutters! Give any room a rustic feel with vintage shutters. More flea market decorating ideas: http://www.bhg.com/decorating/decorating-style/flea-market/flea-market-chic-home-accents/?socsrc=bhgpin062012#page=14

We totally have the issue of an angled ceiling/limited space in our upstairs hallway. What a great way to make it storage space with benches as shelves.

Shutter Style Add character to plain rooms by propping architectural salvage, such as these vintage shutters, against a bare wall. Budget tip: Rotate accessories in and out of rooms to keep them fresh. You'll save money by not purchasing new items, and the ever-changing accents will create intriguing displays.love this idea... I love this idea of turning a shutter on its side and using it to hold cards.

Try re-using old windows for a funky new headboard. Either keep the original glass panes, or try this twist with fabric and batting.

Paint graduated benches in coordinating colors. Then stack and fasten benches together.

Charming Cottage Bath:: Double recessed medicine cabinets hide toiletries on both sides of the vanity and keep the limestone counter free of clutter. The medicine-cabinet doors -- made from old shutters that were cut to size -- reinforce the vintage appeal of the bathroom.

LOVE this idea! Can't wait to find someone else's junk, and create a fabulous one of a kind Headboard! I love how the look is imperfect and has flaws and age! The best part is, when you are tired of this look, it is as simple as taking it down and creating a whole new look.....without having to buy an entire new bed! Definately going to check out Craigslist for discarded shutters!!!

LOVE SHUTTERS. I have so many shutters from yard selling! I have a couple in my home, I've refurbished many and sold em, and I still have plenty in my garage!

Like the skirt on this cabinet. Simple way to hide clutter w/o making or restoring doors/drawers.
