The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, The Shadow of the Wind, Carlos Ruiz Zafón Everyone who is initiated to the Cemetery of Forgotten Books, an enormous, crumbling library of books no one remembers, is allowed to choose only one volume, which he then must protect for the rest of his life. Seems like a simple task, but you never know who might want to burn your book.

The Shadow of the Wind / Carlos Ruiz Zafon ~ Barcelona, 1945: A city slowly heals in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, and Daniel, an antiquarian book dealer’s son who mourns the loss of his mother, finds solace in a mysterious book entitled The Shadow of the Wind. But when he sets out to find the author’s other works, he makes a shocking discovery: someone has been systematically destroying every copy of every book he has written.

Free Book - The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (whose The Rose of Fire promo is currently free on Kindle) and Lucia Graves (Translator), is free over at GoodReads. It appears to be the entire book, minus cover and copyright info, so it's difficult to tell if this is a legitimate promotion or someone managed to upload a pirated copy. I actually suspect the latter, but GoodReads isn't known for having pirated copies available (and, if it is, I expect the link to be taken down shortly).
