Flowerless flower bed for summer: 'Black Magic' and 'Illustris' elephant ears combine with 'Rustic Orange,' 'Crimson Velvet,' and 'Gays Delight' coleus with an underplanting of 'Aurea' creeping jenny in this border. Creeping fig and 'Marguerite' sweet potato vine grow up the wall behind the bed.

"Purple Coleus is a foliage plant that grows a spike with tiny flowers. Beautiful summer annual that fills out so nicely ~ it can get very very large under the right conditions and care!"

Many pond plants also grow well in regular container gardens or in-ground gardens with potting soil instead if submerged in water. Plants that can be potted in both are: elephant ear (taro), Japanese or Louisiana water iris, umbrella palm, papyrus, spider lily, rush and cattails, horsetail rush, creeping jenny, cork screw rush, canna, and rain lily

Need to find out what cultivar of coleus this is... beautiful! ETA: I think it's Rustic Orange.

Jade Vine: The jade vine (Strongylodon macrobotrys) is a native of the tropical forests of the Philippines. Its flowers are the color of highly unusual blue-green jade, and hang in bunches up to 90 cm long; each clawlike flower is about 7½ cm long. The jade vine's flowers are pollinated by bats.

Border Plants: Agapanthus, Ageratum, Aristea ecklonii, Nemesia strumosa, Nolana, Petunia, Platycodon grandiflorus, Plumbago, Ruellia
