best Jodi Picoult book in my opinion. About a high school shooting, and the whole book takes place in 19 minutes.

  • Becky Cline Carver

One of my favorite Jodi Picoult books. I think almost everyone can identify with the book in some way. In this emotionally charged novel, Jodi Picoult delves beneath the surface of a small town to explore what it means to be different in our society. In Sterling, New Hampshire, 17-year-old high school student Peter Houghton has endured years of verbal and physical abuse at the hands of classmates. His best friend, Josie Cormier, succumbed to peer pressure and now hangs out with the popular crowd that often instigates the harassment. One final incident of bullying sends Peter over the edge and leads him to commit an act of violence that forever changes the lives of Sterling’s residents. Even those who were not inside the school that morning find their lives in an upheaval, including Alex Cormier. The superior court judge assigned to the Houghton case, Alex—whose daughter, Josie, witnessed the events that unfolded—must decide whether or not to step down. She’s torn between presiding over the biggest case of her career and knowing that doing so will cause an even wider chasm in her relationship with her emotionally fragile daughter. Josie, meanwhile, claims she can’t remember what happened in the last fatal minutes of Peter’s rampage. Or can she? And Peter’s parents, Lacy and Lewis Houghton, ceaselessly examine the past to see what they might have said or done to compel their son to such extremes. Rich with psychological and social insight, Nineteen Minutes is a riveting, poignant, and thought-provoking novel that has at its center a haunting question. Do we ever really know someone?

By far my favorite Jodi Picoult book and in my top five favorite books ever read. It is a gut wrenching novel about a school shooting. Picoult is an amazing author that can take a black and white situation and form an area of grey in your mind

Keeping Faith - like moral dilemmas and twists and turns. Jodi Picoult doesn't shy away from some of our current day's hot topics. This was one of them.

Anyone who has asked me for a book suggestion has heard me go on and on about Jodi Picoult. Yes, one of her books was made into a movie but that is just the tip of her iceberg of talent!!! I love love love all her books and can reread them without getting bored. This particular book was the first one of hers that I read and I was hooked.

Handle With Care Jodi Piccoult Storyline was good...characters had me very emotional. Ending sucks:(

My favorite book. I have this edition, and it's falling apart. When it becomes unusable I don't know what I am going to do.

My whole life, I’ve never been on a vacation. I’ve never even left New Hampshire, unless you count the time that we flew to Nebraska – and even you have to admit that sitting in a hospital room for three days watching really old Tom and Jerry cartoons while you get your Pamidronate infusion is nothing like going to a beach or SeaWorld or the Grand Canyon. (jodi picoult, handle with care)

Heaven is for Real...a book you will read from cover to cover in one sitting. Make the time to read this book!!

favorite jodi picoult of all time... only to be ruined by being made into a movie.

Nicholas Sparks | Books by Nicholas Sparks....I've read it- great

“In nineteen minutes, you can mow the front lawn; color your hair; watch a third of a hockey game. In nineteen minutes, you can bake scones or get a tooth filled by a dentist; you can fold laundry for a family of five. In nineteen minutes, you can stop the world; or you can just jump off it.”

Water for Elephants - Sara Gruen Good book, but found the animal cruelty in spots hard to stomach!
