This is my favorite book of all time! It is a must read. Mistry, Rohinton "A Fine Balance". This book is absolutely wonderful. The ending is shocking but not entirely unexpected and any other ending would have been too fictional, too much trying to find paradise on earth. Like you find so often in books, the endings seem to be "out of this world".

Unaccustomed Earth- recommendation from a friend.

I've heard people challenging the notion that this book is Science Fiction. If it's not, then it deserves it's own genre. It was so good and so different in so many ways.

Amazing picture of what life must have been like in Biblical times. Very engrossing.

A large, still book is a piece of quietness, succulent and nourishing in a noisy world, which I approach and imbibe with "a sort of greedy enjoyment," as Marcel Proust said of those rooms of his old home whose air was "saturated with the bouquet of silence." ― Holbrook Jackson

"some books are meant / to be read just like this / alone, with the evening, / a bowl of fruit ripening / waiting for the reader / to grow hungry, but / she won't, the book / will devour her, / and it / will soon / become / morning."

I have a bag with this Gorey illustration on it. SO HAPPY AND TRUE. :-)
