Quick question hope you can answer, my husband and I like DIY projects and love making furniture for the house, but everything we've made so far has always looked new and now we're moving on to a more rustic feel, we've built the new pieces and need to stain them, I've been concerned about what to use because I don't want a shiney finish but need to protect because we have a 5 year old, I see on here a satin poly was used? I always thought that would have more shine to it than what I see in the picture .... You think that's what I should use?. Any suggestions?

Painting a kitchen table can seem a little overwhelming at first, but its actually pretty simple. With all of the flat surfaces on a table and no drawers, its pretty straightforward. You can use latex paint to paint a kitchen table, just make sure to do a few coats of a clear finish on top for extra durability.
