The Balinese Room (gone but not forgotten)

before and after hurricane Ike :-( Balinese. ZZ Top's song "Down At The Balinese" is about this cool old place.

Balinese Room, Galveston Texas - a dance hall and illegal casino. First built in 1929 as a small restaurant it was expanded and the name changed in 1942. It's said to be where head bartender Santos Cruz “invented” the Margarita for singer Peggy Lee in 1948. The Balinese Room is celebrated in a 1975 song by the band ZZ Top. It was finally completely destroyed by Hurricane Ike in 2008.
