L'arte del Gelato If you like your gelato on the rich side, look no further than L'Arte del Gelato, the Frozen Custard of NYC's gelato scene. Pistachio, the richest among them, is a must-order, as is the caramel-swirled panna cotta. On a recent visit, peach sorbetto was an especially luxurious, true to flavor expression of the fruit. Keep an eye out for grape and banana chocolate, which come on the flavor rotation now and then 75 7th Avenue South, New York NY 10014

Hooni Kim's Guide to Korean Food and Ingredients in NYC and New Jersey | Serious Eats : New York. Hooni Kim was trained in French and Japanese cooking (by way of Daniel and Masa), but the Seoul-born chef returned to his roots with his first restaurant, the modern Korean Danji, whose bulgogi slider inspired fever dreams in Ruth Reichl. His follow-up, Hanjan, is a take on the 'joomak,' a Korean tavern that provided sustenance for weary travelers.

Bosnian burek house Ukus in Astoria is a treasure trove of Balkan eats: massive, excellent burek of course, and a chicken soup I'll be sipping once a week when the weather turns cool

Cevapi. An Eastern European kebab sandwich heaven. Balkan garlicky, charred, minced meat kebabs with tangy soured clotted cream and smoky pepper spread. Num.
Note to self... Next time I fly into NYC, land in La Guardia and stop at Ukus on the way into Manhattan...
Cevapi at Ukus Ukus is a small, charming burektorja in Astoria that makes some solidly tasty burek, but it's the cevapi that really get me going. The little minced kebabs are impressively juicy and fragrant with garlic and the smoky char of the grill. They come stuffed in a thick chewy pita with kaymak (a clotted sour cream), ajvar, and raw onions on the side—a piece of Balkan heaven
