The Wire (TV Series 2002–2008). My advice if you haven't watched this year (1) watch the first three episodes in a row, and (2) prepare to get hooked.

The Wire - best tv show ever. As one of my TV snob friends said back in the day, "If you have HBO and you're not watching The Wire, you're just foolish."

I'm watching this show in my African American Narrative Class-- pretty kick ass

The Wire is an American television drama series set and produced in and around Baltimore, Maryland.Created and primarily written by author and former police reporter David Simon, the series was broadcast by the premium cable network HBO in the United States. The Wire premiered on June 2, 2002 and ended on March 9, 2008, comprising 60 episodes over five seasons.

There are many, many things I love about The Wire (not for nothing have so many critics called it the best show on television), but Michael Kenneth Williams takes the cake. Anyone who can top Idris Elba AND Dominic West in my book must really have some charisma.

It's not too often that a spin off series is as good as its originator, but do check this one out.

The Killing-First of all, is it never NOT raining in Seattle?? I loved this series. It was made well, had great characters and always had me guessing until the end. Linden's character was strange. I know she was institutionalized in the past, but she always seemed on the edge, which got annoying towards the end. I still loved it. I guess they are wrapping up the show with a short season to tie up loose ends. That's too bad :(

The regulars of the Boston bar Cheers share their experiences and lives with each other while drinking or working at the bar where everybody knows your name.

"The Middle" centers on the frequent mishaps of a semi-dysfunctional family as they attempt to get on with their lives in the city of Orson, Indiana. The characters are endearing and funny.
