Ask each child to bring in a small framed family it! Feeling connected

The children's family photos.... at the beginning of every year, have each child to bring in a framed photo of their family. Over the years I have witnessed children holding, kissing and talking to their family photos emphasizing how important this little piece of home is to children who have just started school. CUTE IDEA!

This website has some unique classroom ideas including this one where students bring in a family/friend framed photo at the beginning of the year so they have a little piece of home with them while they are at school. This is especially great for younger students who might be homesick for their first year of school.

This article is great in terms of talking about how to make the classroom environment more inclusive for all kids. It has all of the kids bring in a picture of their family and I would display that in the classroom. It makes every kid feel included in the classroom regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, or any other factor.

Ask each child to bring in a small framed family it! (I don't think I have room to display all year - but would be fun during out family unit at least).

This idea to make a classroom feel a great sense of #warmth would be a great way for the students to feel like the classroom is an #inviting place to learn. I would have the students bring in framed pictures of their family to put on the bookshelf to have families involved and present during the education process. Also in younger grades, by having family pictures in the classroom it would help with missing home and make them feel #safe at school.

27 Ways to increase family involvement in your class

If I had seen this when I was a new teacher, it would have made a HUGE difference in the way my classroom functioned. It would eliminate so much student off-task time getting a new pencil, getting notebooks, markers, etc. Store manipulatives in the drawers. You could even put a little trash container on top. Brilliant idea. It doesn't even take up a lot of floor space.

My classroom library. The only thing I would change are the colors so that they are more gender neutral.
