    Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese. One of the best books I have read. An epic/saga about orphaned twin brothers raised by doctors in Ethiopia. Novel includes: love, faith, betrayal, family, culture, and of course medicine. Took me awhile to get into it but half way through, it took off. Well worth the slow beginning - which I seldomely say.
