There are so many lessons that I learned from my dad.  I remember growing up thinking that he must know everything about everything!  He was always busy working, studying, and learning so many different things.  Before I was born he was in the Air Force, and served on the police department.  Then he was a newspaper reporter, an Executive director at a non-profit, he studied medicine, he was salesman, a business owner and a writer. (No – not all at the same time!)
