Another one of Andre Kertész images relating to shadows. In the early years of his career, his then-unorthodox camera angles and style prevented his work from gaining wider recognition.
I love the repetitiveness in this image, the repeated shadow strips on the wall and the wire of the egg slicer, i love this image.

To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. -Elliot Erwitt Rainy Day, Tokyo, 1968, André Kertész

André Kertész (2 July 1894 – 28 September 1985), born Kertész Andor, was a Hungarian-born photographer known for his groundbreaking contributions to photographic composition and the photo essay. In the early years of his career, his then-unorthodox camera angles and style prevented his work from gaining wider recognition. Kertész never felt that he had gained the worldwide recognition he deserved. Today he is considered one of the seminal figures of photojournalism.

Field of children at summer camp, Germany 1929. Quite the controversial photo, especially from a distant glance. (and the caption)
"Field of children at a summer camp in Germany in 1929." I find this photo to be haunting and almost prophetic. Here happy young German campers lay in a field for an unknown reason -- possibly just to get an aerial shot of all the kids -- and yet when I first saw the photo, I thought they were victims of the Holocaust which ironically would occur just years later and leave very similar but more gruesome images. A "happy" image ironically evoking thoughts of horrific historic events. ~Skye
