The Black Bear is West Virginia's state animal. Black bears are very intelligent, shy, and secretive animals - actually seeing a bear in the wild is a very rare experience.

The black bear is the state mammal of Louisiana (Commonly reffered to as "the teddy bear") He does not look like a teddy bear standing on the side of the road when you are 20' up a magnolia tree 30' away!

Black Bear. I was coming home from Charlottesville yesterday on a fairly deserted stretch of the interstate when a black bear suddenly ran right out in front of me. I was swerving all over the place and thankfully i missed him. I'm so thankful i didn't hit him...he was so beautiful.
