A time out jar. Shake it up then watch the glitter slowly fall to the bottom. When you are as calm as the glitter in the jar you can come back. Will keep the kid(s) entertained as they watch the glitter settle too. Cute idea!

Calm Down Jar. The goal is that when they are feeling out of control, they shake the jar, then sit and watch the glitter settle in the water. When the glitter settles, they can get up. This one is a really great technique to use in lieu of timeout. **repin note~ I realize that this is an alternative to a time out for kids, but I think I may just make one for myself for the times when I think I'm about to snap

Idea for upset kids? Alternative for timeout. Mind Jar. When they are feeling out of control, they shake the jar, then sit and watch the glitter settle in the water. When the glitter settles, we finish our time out.

Cute idea for kids who need a "cool down" time. Mind Jar. It is really easy to make. The goal is that when they are feeling out of control, they shake the jar, then sit and watch the glitter settle in the water. When the glitter settles, we finish our meditation. This one is a really great technique to use in lieu of timeout.

Ideas for part of a "calm down" basket for kids. It would be great to use this for adults, too.
