I read this book in the bath until the water was icy cold and I was crying my heart out - the movie really did it justice The Green Mile (1999) - IMDb The words Tom Hanks, a prison guard looking to the distance, below the words The Green Mile, in the middle of the words, a small silhouette of a big man and small man walking towards a light.

The Green Mile (1999) This was the second movie that Tom Hanks surprised me in with his performance. Loved the period surrounding the story and loved Coffey and his simple but far reaching ways. Loved how Coffey held in the bad stuff from the warden's wife to deliver Percy's punishment. The book was good but slow, the movie good and not slow. Definitely worth a watch.

Andy Dufresne is a young and successful banker whose life changes drastically when he is convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover. Set in the 1940's, the film shows how Andy, with the help of his friend Red, the prison entrepreneur, turns out to be a most unconventional prisoner. Great Movie

A few laugh-out-loud gags, perfect CGI, and a spot-on depiction of Bostonians can't save this from the terrible self-referential ("hey people say I sound like Peter Griffin") and pop-culture (Flash Gordon et al) jokes that drag it down. Once I got used to the gimmick I just started to see the teddy bear as Seth Rogan.
