    Carex pensylvanica - Pennsylvania Sedge --use in place of grass turf

    (just bought some) Juncus Grass Curly Wurly Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush will grow to be about 18 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 18 inches. Its foliage tends to remain dense right to the ground. This ornamental grass does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in moist to wet soil, and will even tolerate some standing water. It is not particular as to soil type, but has a definite preference for acidic soils, and is able to handle environmental salt.

    Bowles Golden Sedge- yellow new leaves in spring are especially striking, but color carries through the year. Best color in full sun, but also brightens shady areas. For dramatic effect, combine with contrasting deep green foliage plants such as Hostas. Thrives in moist soils; tolerates shallow water at the edge of ponds. Semi-evergreen.

    Variegated ribbongrass is a perfect plant for adding a dose of color anywhere you don't want to maintain; it's a fast-spreading variety perfect for covering slopes and other areas. It earned its common name because the green leaves are beautifully striped in creamy white. Variegated ribbongrass thrives in just about every garden situation from full, hot sun to shade.     Cordgrass, Cordgrass An underutilized selection, cordgrass is a spreading prairie grass that thrives in moist or wet soils. As such, it's a good choice for growing along the side of a pond or stream. Name: Spartina pectinata Growing Conditions: Full sun and moist soil Size: To 7 feet tall Zones: 4-7 Plant This Grass Because: It doesn't mind moist, or even wet, soils.
