The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, http://www.amazon.com/dp/1594480001/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_wNgTpb0VVSFSK
The Kite Runner Khaled Hosseini - The Kite Runner,a poignant tale of two motherless boys growing up in Kabul, a city teetering on the brink of destruction at the dawn of the Soviet invasion. Hosseini’s depiction of the cruelty children suffer at the hands of their “friends” will break your heart. And his descriptions of Afghanistan both before and after the war will haunt readers long after they’ve read the last page.
Kite Runner - By Khaled Hosseini... The saddest book i have ever read
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini <3
definitely a book worth reading
Cold Blood, Worth Reading, True Crime, Books Worth, Favorite Books, Reading Lists, Truman Capote
In Cold Blood - Truman Capote. Possibly the most famous true crime book ever written, and for good reason. Capote's writing is almost too lovely for his subject matter.
This is on my top five favorite books of all time. Truman Capote created the "nonfiction novel" genre with it. It's incomparable. A must, must, must read classic. The movie of the same name with Robert Blake was very well done. The recent film "Capote" with Philip Seymour Hoffman was wonderful and depicted how In Cold Blood changed Capote's life and drove him more than a little insane.
True story. Worth reading. Took place in Holcomb, Kansas. My grandparents lived there.
'In Cold Blood' by Truman Capote. I have a first edition of this book coming!
'In Cold Blood' by Truman Capote - my other favorite book of all time.
In Cold Blood. Truman Capote. The first true crime novel to hit #1.
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote This will forever be the greatest true crime book that I personally have ever experienced. There are others that are extremely well written and researched that are in my "top ten" but this is a work of art. To take the sheer ugliness of this crime and delicately lay it out the way he did was nothing short of genius. I think it took the life out of him. He gave his life to it literally and figuratively. It's not an excuse for anything he did to later alienate himself from so many people, but I just think he knew he'd created what he was here to do and he just couldn't move forward any longer. He changed the game.
In Cold Blood Chilling...a true crime thriller ahead of its time.
In Cold Blood- on my reading list

THE ROUND HOUSE by Louise Erdrich (National Book Award) A boy on the cusp of manhood on the Ojibwe reservation in North Dakota seeks justice in the wake of a terrible crime against his mother. Riveting and suspenseful, a powerful coming-of-age story, a mystery, and a tender, moving novel of family, history, and culture. It vividly portrays both the deep tragedy and crazy comedy of life.

Book #9 - for the "Pullitzer Prize Winning" slot - Middlesex: A Novel (Oprah's Book Club):
Middlesex, Jeffrey Eugenides Compulsively readable, Eugenides’s novel tells many stories, but the most memorable of these is that of Cal, who tells us that he was born twice: “first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day of January 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of l974.” Whether or not you’ve had any remotely similar experience, Cal’s struggles with sexuality, identity, and loyalty to family are likely to hit home.

Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. My book. My all time favorite book as a kid.
THE BOOK that EVERY child should have read to them!! I read this to my children when they were small (4 kids ages 2-7). We read two chapters a night (even though they would BEG me to read "just one more chapter"). I laughed out loud while reading this....and found myself trying to read through a haze of tears. It is just a beautiful story about a boy and his dogs. Very touching...and so worth reading over and over again. (All of my children have re-read this story on their own...several times).
Where The Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. This one really is my all time favorite.

The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides - Pretty good. Not as engrossing as Middlesex, but still kept my interest all the way through
It’s the early 1980s—the country is in a deep recession, and life after college is harder than ever. In the cafés on College Hill, the wised-up kids are inhaling Derrida and listening to Talking Heads. But Madeleine Hanna, dutiful English major, is writing her senior thesis on Jane Austen and George Eliot, purveyors of the marriage plot that lies at the heart of the greatest English novels.
The Marriage Plot- love absolutely everything by this man....I would marry him.

50th Anniversary Edition of Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh | Between the Covers
Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh: A mother of five, an acclaimed writer and a pioneering aviator, Lindbergh casts an unsentimental eye on the trappings of modernity that threaten to overwhelm us: the time-saving gadgets that complicate rather than simplify, the multiple commitments that take us from our families. And by recording her thoughts during a brief escape from everyday demands, she helps readers find a space for contemplation and creativity within their own lives.
