Bubbles even toddlers can do! Here's a super toddler trick for bubbles they don't tell you. Add a little food coloring to the bubbles and have a couple containers of a couple different colors of bubbles. Tape paper to the wall. Blow the bubbles to land on the wall with paper. You will end up with a beautiful colored abstract artistic design made by blown bubbles made by your little toddler.

You and your child can send clouds of tiny bubbles skyward with this quick trick. Materials Drinking straws Tape Dishwashing liquid Light corn syrup (or glycerin) Instructions Instead of a traditional bubble wand, use a number of drinking straws bound together with a few pieces of tape. Dip one end of the bundle into a shallow dish of bubble solution, then blow through the straws gently.
Bubble Recipe: We made these today and the girls had so much fun blowing and popping bubbles. We even made some bubble wands out of pipe cleaners. Callie loved the "snake" bubbles that the big wands made.#YoYoBirthday

There are three things I LOVE about this: (1) it costs about 50 cents total to make enough to fill 2 bottles, (2) it is made with flour, salt, and water so if it ends up in the mouth…no harm done, and (3) it can be kept in upcycled squeeze bottles to make it easier to use! The first recipe is for homemade finger paint. Recipe for Homemade Finger Paint 1 cup flour 2 tablespoons salt 1 1/2 cups cold water 1 1/2 cups hot water Coloring: food coloring, tempera paint, or powdered tempera will work 1. Mix 1 cup of flour and 2 tablespoons of salt. 2. Add the cold water and stir until there aren’t any lumps. 3. Add the hot water… …and bring to a boil. Once it’s thickened, remove it from the heat. 4. It will be kind of lumpy, so continue to whisk away until the lumps are gone. Getting smoother… 5. Dump half of it into a bowl and add your desired color of food coloring. Stir. 6. Pour into a squeezable container. I used a mustard container, a honey container, and a shampoo bottle! Depending on the size of the mouth of the bottle, you might need to use a funnel. Since it’s pretty thick, it will take some coaxing to get it through the funnel.

INTRODUCING: The Garden Party Collection available now on Etsy! To see the full collection click HERE . MY NIECE RECENTLY TURNED FOUR and we celebrated with a Garden Birthday Party designed and illustrated by yours truly! Here's the double-sided invitation that was sent out to friends and family (see above and below). And here's the Birthday Girl! Since my house is full of boys, I had so much fun designing this party for Mackenzie. The tablecloth is made from colorful bandanas. Thanks Mom for sewing it together for me! Hot Pink Water Jug— is from Joann's found with all their Easter stuff. Same with the flowers. The yummy homemade white cake was layered with fresh strawberries and homemade icing! I made clay cake toppers to match the Garden themed invitation. (Thinking about selling these too.) The little statue of Mackenzie was made using Shrinky Dinks! That was fun to watch it bake! My friends Shona, Claire and I sewed the Mini-bunting for the cake (and also for the yarn wreath). I spray painted the clay pots in bright colors and filled them with Jelly Bellies. The Flowers were made from a template and tongue depressors (template available at my shop) The Party Circles in the center of the flowers are part of my Garden Party Collection. The kids loved playing and planting flowers in the sandbox. Chenille bubble blowers were easier for the kids to dip into the bubbles and the chenille absorbs the bubble mixture and makes bigger bubbles! The Bubble Wrappers are part of the Garden Party Collection. I found this adorable Butterfly Catcher jar with "what looked like" a real butterfly! Tap on the top of the jat and the butterfly flutters around. It was a big hit with the kids. Click here for instructions on how to make these cute balloon flowers! Guests left with these Garden Party Favors. Can't wait 'til next year!

DIY Watercolor Paints
These are super, and I mean SUPER-easy to make. These homemade watercolor paints cost me absolutely nothing, and they turned out... so much better than I imagined they would! You’re going to love how simple this recipe is. You probably already have all the ingredients on hand in your kitchen. Here’s what you’ll need to make your own homemade watercolor paints: 4 tbsp baking soda 2 tbsp white vinegar 1/2 tsp light corn syrup 2 tbsp corn starch Food coloring (liquid or gels) container to keep your paints in – I used a mini muffin tin, but you could use an ice-cube tray, small plastic cups, plastic egg carton etc. Mix your baking soda and vinegar together (hello science experiment) and wait for the fizzing to stop. It’s handy if you mix in a container that has a spout (I used a 2c measuring cup). Add your corn syrup and corn starch, and mix well until the corn starch has dissolved. Pour into your containers. I made a double batch and that made exactly enough to halfway fill all 12 compartments of my muffin tin. Now, get out your colors and have some fun! Use toothpicks and popsicle sticks for adding your colors, and stir for about a minute to make sure the color is mixed in well. If you’re using liquid colors, you may have to add about 6 drops to get the intense color that you ‘re looking for. I added a pinch of extra corn starch to compensate for the extra liquid. Now the hard part: you have to let your paints “set up” and dry which apparently could take up to 2 days. I’m happy to report that my watercolors were solid after sitting over night, and ready to use by mid-afternoon today, so it took less than 24 hours for mine to harden. I did have them sitting beside our fire place all day though so that may have helped. Once they’re hard, simply grab a paint brush and some water and get painting!! I couldn’t wait to try mine, and I was really impressed when I did. The paints glide on smoothly, the colors look super. Honestly, they are nicer than any of the kiddy watercolor paints I’ve used before. They’re a little chalky when they dry, but not nearly as chalky as the dollar store paints that we’ve been using recently. I also think the muffin tin will be much better than those shallow trays that kids’ paint usually comes in. With the shallow trays, the colours get muddy quickly when the little ones drag their brushes all over the tray, sloshing water around and mixing the colours together. I’m hoping our colors stay a little “cleaner” now. AND THESE Homemade watercolor paints don’t stain!
