Some artists use paint, others bronze, but Nathan Sawaya chooses to build his awe-inspiring art out of toy building blocks. LEGO® bricks to be exact. A boy left his bike chained to a tree when he went away to war in 1914. He never returned, leaving the tree no choice but to grow around the bike. Incredible that this bike has been there for 99 years now! ;;; This is absolutely amazingly wonderful how nature can just adapt and let nothing get in the way of their growth and progress. I hope they continue to monitor this trees growth and continue to post photos as this tree engulfs more of this bicycle.

cool photo! the caption reads "A boy left his bike chained to a tree when he went away to war in 1914. On Vashon Island (near Seattle, Washington), a tree grows carrying a rather unusual passenger – an old bike. Apparently some kid chained a bike to the tree decades ago and never picked it up, leaving the tree no choice but to grow around the bike. The tree and island gained some level of notoriety when Berkeley Breathed, creator of Bloom County, wrote a children’s book inspired by the bicycle eating tree entitled Red Ranger Came Calling.

It's safe to say that Liu Bolin is a modern-day magician. In 2007, his advanced camouflage art exploded onto the art scene as we were all left speechless, scratching our heads at how body paint could seamlessly blend a person into their background.

Patti Smith: Advice to the young. "Build a good name", rock poet Patti Smith advises the young. "Life is like a roller coaster, it is going to have beautiful moments but it is going to be real fucked up, too", she says. The American singer, poet and photographer Patti Smith (b. 1946) is a living punk rock legend. In this video she gives advice to the young: "Build a good name. Keep your name clean. Don’t make compromises, don’t worry about making a bunch of money or being successful. Be concerned about doing good work. Protect your work and if you build a good name, eventually that name will be its own currency. Life is like a roller coaster ride, it is never going to be perfect. It is going to have perfect moments and rough spots, but it’s all worth it", Patti Smith says. Interview by Christian Lund, the Louisiana Literature festival August 24, 2012, at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Produced by Honey Biba Beckerlee and Kamilla Bruus. Keith Haring - Crack is Wack, 1986 This mural (1986) on handball court at 128th Street and 2nd Avenue was inspired by the crack epidemic and its effect on New York City. It was created as a warning and was initially executed independently, without City permission. The mural was immediately put under the protection and jurisdiction of the City Department of Parks and still exists. #streetart #keithharing #1986 #1980s #NYC #urban
