This may well be a way to "hide" the cord. Bang on the wall as well. Yes it does not need to be an entire town. A small zig-zag patterns may suffice. Saw a picture a long time ago, which I unfortunately can not find now, with cord glued to the ceiling in a serpentine pattern. Very nice! Light like this can be found in Concrete mine store.
