It doesn't work! I bought a bottle glass cutter (g2 something or other) on amazon. Score the bottle. Only go around the bottle once. Have a bucket of boiling water, and a bucket of ice water. I actually put salt in the ice water to make it even colder. Dunk back and forth, holding bottle in each tub for about 2 minutes each. 75% of the time it will break off clean along the score.

DIY Easy Gifts To Sew

Robyn! Turn bottles into drinking glasses: soak heavy yarn in acetone, then wrap around bottle where you want to cut it 5-6 times. Light it on fire until you hear a crack, then run under cool (not cold!) water until it breaks off--make sure to continually turn it under the water, and you may need to gently tap it on the sink edge to get it to break. Then sand it down with fine-grit sandpaper until smooth enough to drink out of. Would be fun for a special bottle of wine/liquor from an event...

My daughter in law and myself did this as a Christmas gift for my son. We bought one bottle of all his favorite alcohol and made a six pack and placed them in a decorative crate....he loved it and even posted the video we shot doing it on Facebook!!
