Made these last night. The recommended time in the oven wasn't quite enough to get them as crispy as I like, so I turned the broiler on high for 2 minutes when the time was up and they were perfect

Roasted Okra: Preheat oven to 400. Split okra in half lengthwise then toss with salt, pepper, garlic, red pepper flakes and EVOO. Roast for 15 minutes and serve immediately!

Southern Fried Okra: 1 pound red or green okra, sliced into 1/4" pcs, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup corn meal, good pinch of cayenne, good pinch of salt, plus more for right at the end, good pinch of freshly ground black pepper, 1 cup buttermilk, enough canola or vegetable oil
