    Back then, all the cars had bench seats & no one wore seat belts making this maneuver an everyday occurrence. Today, with consoles between the 2 front seats, this maneuver is all but impossible. C.O.D...R.I.P.!!

Cars used to have a bench front seat and we stood in the middle with NO seatbelt. Mom would put her arm out at stops so we wouldnt fall!

No seatbelts...and you were allowed to stand in the middle of the front seat.....every mom developed that right hand reflex whenever she was coming to a stop, to prevent you from falling into the dashboard!

stockings in a box...I had forgotten about this. I remember the early 60's before panty hose...the feeling of those silky stockings. They felt wonderful...but I hated those garter belts!

Road trip...before it was illegal to have 8 kids in the car without seat belts :)
