This emergent reader little book is a great way to practice reading with young students. This story uses a predictable pattern, "George Washington, George Washington, what do you see?" to support emerging readers. This story includes several President's Day vocabulary words, such as George Washington, Washington Monument, Betsy Ross, American flag, bald eagle, the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, and Abraham Lincoln.
Next, the students wrote their own facts about George Washington using the chart as a reference. After their writing was complete, they made their own George Washington using construction paper, cotton balls, and a coffee filter folded in half. They are too cute!!
