Entryway idea - I would put a closet on the one side and leave the half wall to open up the entryway into the living room!

A pair of 48-inch-high partitions separates the living room from the dining room. The #Craftsman #Influence comes through in the #Columns atop the partitions, which conceal load-bearing posts. One side of the hall has a built-in bench opposite cubbies for shoes. Find your perfect craftsman style home at http://www.dongardner.com/Bungalow-Craftsman-House-Plans.aspx.

Because it’s used by both guests and family, the foyer in the Seattle, Washington, home needed to blend formality with practicality. I love the darker mantlepiece above the white bench. Pegs in the same stain unify the look. Bench would have to have storage cubbies underneath to be useable.

Had one just like this in a house we once lived in - I sure miss it!..... "love idea of entryway....then door into main foyer."

Make this a mudroom by substituting a long entry table with a beautiful tablescape on the right side, with a shelf on bottom for shoes and a shelf above for wicker baskets of stuff you need when leaving the house. You could also add boot trays under the bench for additional shoes.

opening up a hall closet to make way for a console table, mirror - a natural focal point

Pretty and inviting:) This pin gave me the idea (event hough it's not actually part of the space) to do a sign facing you when you come in my front door that says "hello and welcome" and one facing you when you leave that says "Goodbye, come back soon!"
