Your kids will get a thrill out of helping the birds build a nest. You need a few supplies and some scrap string. See how you and your family can help the birds!

YARN BIRD FEEDER - This is so cool!!! Just add a couple of handfuls of yarn scraps to an inexpensive suet feederI love doing this project its very easy and hang outside where the birds can find it. Then be on the lookout for birds nests in your neighborhood featuring your "building materials".Love watching different birds in my gardens pulling the yarn strings and flying away to make their new nest for her new family.

I never fail to feel a thrill when I see a bright strand of yarn carefully woven into a bird’s nest. You can also fill your suet feeder with raw fleece, if you have any handy. IMPORTANT MESSAGE: The Cornell Lab of Ornithology gives yarn scraps a thumbs up.http://www.birds.cornell.edu/Page.aspx?pid=1144 (Scroll down to “Nest Material”). I have also gotten approval from the Audubon Society BEFORE posting this. In other words, actual EXPERTS approve of this project.

This was so easy and fun. Skinny molds like Dino necks broke. Thick heart, trees and ginger men worked best.

I love how mine turned out (not pictured) but words for the wise if you try this, don't add the potting soil in the 6" pots until after you've transferred your flowers to the pots.
