Never seen this young Abraham Lincoln photo, before. His left eye bothers me...yet I can't look away.

Christine Chubbuck was the first and only TV news reporter to commit suicide during a live television broadcast. On July 15, 1974, eight minutes into the broadcast, the depressed reporter said “In keeping with Channel 40’s policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts, and in living color, you are going to see another first: an attempted suicide.” With that, Chubbuck drew up a revolver and shot herself in the head.

This photo was taken the day of these three ladies mother's funeral. There in the picture is a dark figure of a man standing behind the middle woman resting his right hand on her right shoulder... coincidentally the woman was killed in a car accident not long after this picture was taken.

This photograph was taken in 1895, and shows Calamity Jane. Calamity Jane was a colorful figure from the Old West. She was friends with Wild Bill Hickock, and in later years was a member of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. Calamity Jane died on this day, August 1, in the year 1903. She was buried next to Wild Bill.

Betty Lou Williams (1932-1955), the youngest of 12 children, was born with a parasitic twin and had 4 legs and 3 arms. She entered the sideshows at age 2 and made enough money to send all 11 of her siblings to college. The pretty and curvaceous Betty Lou had no shortage of admirers and became engaged at age 23. Unfortunately, he stole her money and ran away. She died shortly after of an asthma attack, though friends claim it was of a broken heart.
