I didn't always make a big deal out of the kids' birthdays, but I have been putting more effort into it now. We used to just throw up streamers and bake a cake and throw chocolate frosting on it. Now that the kids are getting older, I'm trying to make it more fun. My little man turns three in May. I still can't believe he will be three! He has recently started to take interest in more boyish things lately. He used to just go along with what his sister liked (he idolizes her) but the last couple months he has become obsessed with pirates! He runs aroundyelling "arrrrr!" and accusing us all of kidnapping his parrot lol. So, i want to do a pirate party for him! I think he would love it! But.... I need some ideas! Decorations? Favors? Food? Games? His birthday is in late mid-may and there's usually sunshine so we should be able to play outside. I have a giant yard (2 acres, partially woods) and we have lakefront property too... I was thinking about some kind of craft where the kids could make their own little pirate ships and send them off in the water? Supervised of course... But im not sure how that would work or where i coukd get kits to make them??? I would like to do a barbecue style party... But i want to think of pirate themed foods... We did a bumblebee theme for my youngest daughters birthday... A beehive cake... Deviled eggs with olives to look like bees ... Yellow fizzy punch... Etc. But im having a hard time coming up with pirate theme food ideas? Would tropical foods like pineapple or coconut work or are there more pirate-y ideas? I think i know what kind of cake i would like to do. Im not amazing with cake decorating but i am getting better. Here are a few cakes that i am really liking and think i could do... On my phone... So please excuse the typos! Any input or ideas are appreciated. My budget is pretty open, so let me hear your ideas! I want him to have a blast!
