An antique toolbox repurposed for a modern necessity: Charging devices. Drill a hole in the side of a toolbox large enough to feed an electrical plug through. Place a plug strip inside the box; feed the plug through the hole. Cut a board to fit inside the box and drill holes on the board (large enough so that one end of your charging cords can feed through them).
Unplug your electronics: Computers, cell-phone chargers, and other electronics continue to use power even when you turn them off. Nationally, this creates the annual emissions equivalent of 17 power plants. To simplify, plug items into a power strip that you can use as a master switch to turn off when these appliances are not in use.
I like this kind of thinking! 'Never again forget your cell phone. Add a charging station to your entryway and it will be right there to grab as you walk out the door. A unit such as this one can charge several devices at once and also keeps cords neatly tucked away.' Thanks Beautiful Homes and Gardens!
