fingerprint writing assignment ...ink pad, white paper, something to write with (maybe fun colored pencils or markers) and a photocopier. First, let every student make a fingerprint onto white paper. Next, blow up their fingerprints using the photocopier (8×10 or larger). Then, Have your kids write words and phrases about themselves along the lines and whorls of their fingerprints, and sign
"Ink fingers - blow up on photocopier. Trace lines over fingerprint filled with “you” phrases and words. I will have to make my own now. (just to clarify, I did NOT make this. Whoever did make this is a genius. I tried to make my own, but it lies nowhere near this one. Or I just have strange thumbprints)"
Finger Print Narrative - enlarge fingerprints to 8×10, students write words and phrases about themselves following the patterns
Another fingerprint project: Stamp your thumb with an ink pad, and enlarge the thumbprint. Then write about yourself on the lines (All About Me)
Finger Print Narrative: All you’ll need for this is an ink pad, white paper, something to write with (maybe fun colored pencils or markers) and a photocopier. First, make a fingerprint onto white paper. Next, blow up the fingerprint using the photocopier (8×10 or larger).

Thumbprint Self-Portrait. Students will create a thumbprint and write a personal narrative
This article is intended as a school project, however, I think this thumb-print self portrait could be a great tool to exploring the true self. I love the idea of the free-writing words to describe yourself; and writing them out into the design of your own unique finger-print is so visually symbolic - amazing idea. To do in ritual,do the print and enlarging before hand, just need the paper and a sharpie in circle (and colored pencils if putting designs in background). #wicca #pagan

Using the swirl design, they write a narrative about themselves... age, what they like & don't, pets, sports or hobbies, hopes & dreams... -DdO:) - http://www.pinterest.com/DianaDeeOsborne/great-photo-compositions/ - Excellent discussion starter for classroom display at beginning of school year - students Introduce themselves and realize their own special talents. 27 ways to greet students: They might pretend not to like being greeted when they walk into your room (and not all of these will work for high school), but it's important to individually acknowledge the students each day.
Not all of these are practical from a classroom management perspective, but new ideas are always helpful.

A wonderful picture of how students and teachers could greet each other besides the normal "hello". This would be a fun resource to have in the classroom because it would give me a bunch of different ideas to greet students. Teachers could share these ideas so that in our morning meetings children do not get bored with the typical greeting.
Greeting students makes them feel valued, loved, and welcomed. Thus a vital aspect of creating a nurturing environment is greeting students with loving kindness. This chart lists 27 ways for teachers to do that in their classrooms.

I completely loved this 27 ways to greet students board. It not only gives different ideas of how to welcome students, but also it encourages students and teachers to build a positive classroom environment as stated by Carol Tomlinson in Fulfilling the Promise of Differentiated Classroom, " Environment will support or deter the student's quest for affirmation, contribution, power, purpose, and challenge in the classroom." A good way to start those things is by greetings students. (Page 37)

I really like this piece as the artist picked out certain words on the page to make his own saying. This is very interesting how the design of the drawing around the words is and the space throughout the page. This is executed very well. Very cool :)

GENIUS!!! Turning in papers.maybe have students pin their clothes pins on the other side of the tray so that the teacher does not have to go back and repin the clothespin
Turning in papers- when student turns in an assignment, they turn their clothespin around, easy way to see who has not finished yet. INcludes links to files
Turning in papers; one difference: turn the clothespin backwards revealing a smiley face instead though
I did decide to dump the clothes pins after a few weeks, it was just too much. I had a student record the assignment, put the papers in number order, and then record any missing papers. It was a good system.
Turning in papers. I like the column to record who is missing; this could be a classroom job. (Not using the clothespins)
Line hand-in basket with clothes pins with students names on them. When students hand in their work, they turn their clothes pin around so their name is no longer visible. Visible names are students who are unfinished.

End of the school year teacher letter! I have included this in each of my students final report cards. I have my address on the envelope and I already attached a stamp. I got the stamps and envelopes from the school office. I asked for post card stamps so during the summer I can send them a special post card in response to them writing to me.
