King Philip II Augustus of France (21 August 1165 – 14 July 1223) One of the most successful medieval French monarchs, Philip went on the Third Crusade (1189–1192) with Richard (lionheart) I of England and the Holy Roman Emperor, Frederick I Barbarossa.
Dering Roll, c. 1270-1280. The Dering Roll is the oldest English roll of arms surviving in its original form. It was made between 1270 and 1280 and contains the coat of arms of 324 knights, starting with two illegitimate children of King John.

She was of illustrious descent: her father, Baldwin V, was the Count of Flanders, and her mother Adela, was a daughter of the King of France.
