Matchbook Chapter Summaries for Novel Studies. This project is so simple, and you can do it with any novel. This example is for Where the Red Fern Grows. This could be modified for use with Golden Sowers - summarize each book, etc.

Free! Figurative language anchor word wall cards. Hyperbole, personification, alliteration, metaphor, simile, idioms, & more. For a quick, spontaneous ELA writing activity, I like to attach a few of these to the white board, give the students post-its, an instruct them to write an example of each and stick it on the board near the corresponding poster. If time permits, after every student has at least one on the board, they go get a random one and evaluate it.

Very Detailed and Efficient Way to introduce your Classroom Rules and Procedures

Make in powerpoint using Wordart. The font is grobold. Put one per page and blow them up to take up the whole page. Use the wordart that is outline only so it will be blank in the middle. Once you have the name typed and on the page, you can format (or it might say edit) the wordart....that's where you can make the outline thicker.

Quadramas are such a great way to consolidate knowledge at the end of a unit! This post shows how to use quadramas as a reflection tool, as well as providing explicit instructions for how to make them.
