FUN! Twitter door- have a laminated strip for every child and they get time to update status about something they learned, liked or happened during school that day!

I LOVE this! Classroom Facebook! What a fun writing center and at the end of the year you can collect the students' updates and send them home.

instead of handing back papers all the time

Saw this idea on Pinterest. Use the National Geographic Picture of the Day to get students observing, inferring and predicting.

Classroom Boggle- for kids who finish early, morning work, etc. For real this is happening.

Friday Journals--kids write a note on Friday to their parents telling what they learned that week. The parents write a short response back to their child, and the child brings the notebook back Monday. Each parent response earns a sticker for the cover. Love it--a great way to practice letter writing, and to get parents involved. Helps the children ingrain what has been taught into their memory too.

Silent Games, Perfect when you need the class to calm down.

What School Lunches Look Like In 20 Countries Around The World This has a cool idea brewing in me... give students a series of pictures of a student from a different country and have them write a "day in the life" with school vocabulary. Then, based on what they learn, they will write a snapshot journal based on what they think after school would be like. (this could be spiraled all over the place!)

Bulletin Board -Classroom Helpers

Storymatic Classic - $29.95 - set of cards that can be used as writing prompts, as a game, etc. This sounds like it would be really fun and really useful!

Looooove this! Daily status board, using laminated 3x5 cards. This could be used for exit tickets too!

Ticket out the door is to "Tweet" or comment about topic.. This is an effective use of social networks AND exit slip!

J'aimerais faire ça pour la rentrée...

This is a GREAT list of procedures to teach at the beginning of the year. Many of these are things teachers don't think about teaching.
