Army Spc. Christopher S. Merchant Died March 1, 2006 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom 32, of Hardwick, Vt.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 172nd Infantry Regiment, Vermont Army National Guard, Jericho, Vt.; killed March 1 when his Humvee came under attack by enemy forces using a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device and rocket-propelled grenade in Ramadi, Iraq.

Berry Died February 22, 2007 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom 37, of Wichita, Kan.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 161st Field Artillery, Kansas Army National Guard, Dodge City, Kansas; died Feb. 22 in Qasim, Iraq, when the vehicle he was in was struck an improvised explosive device.

Army SSG. Nelson D. Trent, 37, of Austin, Texas. Died December 13, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 36th Infantry Division, Texas Army National Guard, Fort Worth, Texas. Died in Kandahar, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
