"Bliss" (2007). When a young woman named Meryem (Özgü Namal) is raped, her village custom requires that she be killed in order for the dishonour to be expunged from her family. A very interesting, emotional, thought-provoking movie. I liked it a lot.

Babette's Feast, winner of an Oscar for best foreign film, is one of favorite foreign film of all times. The cinematography is exceptional and acting and script is just fantastic. Babette, a French woman, shows up at a small Dutch village and seeks refuge. When they take her in, she prepares a feast that is beyond anyone has seen before. The poignant storyline really touches your heart and you appreciate the characters as you journey through the movie. Excellent.

The Lives of Others is remarkable. Set in 1980's portrait of life under the watchful eye of state police. Lots of twists and surprises. German.

Le grand chemin "the Grand Highway" -film 1987, probably the first and most memorable foreign movie I watched as a kid. Either that or Tarkovsky's "the Sacrifice".
