Custom windows and pergolas make this a well-designed addition to the property, providing garage space and an apartment.

Front Entry Pergola - Even a modestly-scaled front entrance porch is enhanced and dignified by a pergola. This arched structure with 8" square columns features low maintenance cellular vinyl construction.

The ends of the pergola beams are held off of the roof with custom stainless steel "T" shaped clips (similar to roof snow guards), that are fastened and flashed to the roof. The top end of each clip was mortised into the beam, plugged, sanded and painted. The beam end is held off and spaced approx. ½" above the finished red cedar shingle. This gives the effect that the beam looks as if it is penetrating through.

Paint peg boards a bright color and use to store garden tools, dust pan, etc. No entryway in the house? Put a mudroom storage cubby in the garage. Put a shelf rack near the door to hold dog food, cleaning supplies, paper towels etc.

pergola. This might look cute above my garage

A Natural Extension A shed and a pergola go hand in hand. -- Pergolas can be stand-alone or attached structures; this small-scale version extends off a charming wood garden shed.

I keep toodling around the idea of building a garage on the north side of the house that has an apartment above it, just in case we need rental income. This one is gorgeous.

Beautiful combination of the wood trellis and stone pillars to enclose this walkway as well as provide outdoor seating options.
