In the historical centre of Sorrento (a small town in southern Italy) lays a deep canyon - also known as - The Valley of the Mills. While observing the deep ravine between the cliffs an Old mill can bee seen (there are a few more that are harder to locate from above), it was built around the 10th century. The mill was abandoned sometime during the 19th century and vegetation almost compliantly covered the old abandoned mill.

Near the southern coast of Iceland are a number of beautiful waterfalls, including Seljalandsfoss. With a two hundred foot drop and a narrow cascade, it is not as large or as powerful as some of its neighbors, but it has one very unique feature: a cutaway behind the falling water large enough to create a pathway. Intrepid explorers, like those captured here by an unknown photographer, may hike down to the foot of the waterfall and walk all the way around it.

Heart of Kauai, Kauai's Mount Waialeale; generally considered the rainiest spot on the planet, drops much of its water down 3,000 foot walls so sheer, that there are only two days per year where the sun passes overhead; leaving no shadows on all of its walls. Lucky indeed to be overhead in an open cockpit airplane when this occurs. Luckier still to be there after one of the rainiest days of the year and after the clouds part for your photographic dream of a lifetime. Photo by Leona Boyd

Devil’s Bridge The impressive arch bridge was built around 1860. During its construction, other peculiar rock formations were built on the lake and in the park. Devil’s Bridge is no longer open to the public to ensure its preservation. A unique feature of the bridge is that its reflection on the water’s surface creates a flawless circle, regardless of which side is being viewed.

About 200 people actually inhabit the Japanese volcanic island of Aogashima, with only one school and a single post office. Aogashima, a part of the Izu Archipelago, lies two 200 miles south of Tokyo, in the Philippine Sea. The island and its 205 inhabitants (as of 2009), are a part of Japan and governed by Tokyo.
