Making Inferences with Short Animated Films

My students always love watching the Disney/Pixar short animated films. This link is great because it includes a graphic organizer to go along with this mini film.

First, next, then, last...(Who, what, where, when, why, how) HILARIOUS! Stop it at various points and predict....great!

Inference-This is an awesome Pixar short for reinforcing or introducing the skill of inference. allow students to watch the entire film (5 minutes) then replay it, stopping to ask inference questions.

Pigeon: Impossible

Impossible Wordless film. Great for inferring right from the get go...Infer the setting, the profession of the man, what might happen, character feelings based on actions and expressions...really good.

Sheep In The Island (6:45 is the first segment.) Use to practice comprehension strategies, like predicting, asking questions, inferring, and drawing conclusions.
