1980. This is Mathias H. Martin, an Old Order Mennonite who lived near Hawkesville, he sold his farm to his Son-in-Law, he took up Shoe repair and Harness making and repair. He also sold books and shoes there. He maintained one barn filled with Pigs, and a hatching egg laying flock in a part of another barn. . Mathias had a bell collection which he delighted in showing visitors, and a harness buckle collection. He lived till he was 92 years old.
