Died in Bagram, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire.

Army Staff Sgt. Justin T. Gallegos Died October 3, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom 27, of Tucson, Ariz.; assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.; died Oct. 3 in Kamdesh, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his contingency outpost with small arms, rocket-propelled grenade and indirect fires.

Army CPT. James D. Nehl, 37, of Gardiner, Oregon. Died November 9, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Died in Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, from small arms fire while on patrol during combat operations.

Army Pfc. Cody O. Moosman, 24, of Preston, Idaho. Died July 3, 2012, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Died in Gayan Alwara Mandi, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.

Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher R. Thibodeau Died May 26, 2011 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom 28, of Chesterland, Ohio, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas; died May 26 in Naka Bowl, Paktika province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his helicopter crashed during combat operations.
