This is a great emergent literacy activity. Perfect for play individually or as a small group - groups of kids can create stories together by taking turns picking different stones - or out of a mystery bag and having to create a story about what is on the stone. I love these!
Cut out pictures from books, magazines and leftover fabric to make these awesome story-telling aids!
Story stones provide a super opportunity for imaginative play, and there’s some great sensory stuff going on too: the colors are vibrant, they’re cool to the touch, and for me there’s something soothing about the sound of stones clacking together as you play with them.
Kids Get Crafty: 5 Little Ducks went Swimming One Day
What a great idea for stone art. The grandgirls will love making these and making up stories with them. We can also use them in our fairy garden pond. As suggested on Red Ted Art, we will count, weigh, measure, and weigh them. Love this. I am thinking we may do turtles, too, and maybe bugs with googley eyes. Can't wait for the April snow to melt here in MN.
