Titan is the largest satellite of Saturn and the only one in the solar system with a dense atmosphere. Moon ranks among the most massive objects in the solar system after the Sun, the eight planets and the moon of Jupiter - Ganymede. Titan concentrates around 90% of the mass of matter around Saturn and its rings. Diameter of 5150 km, mass of 1.345 × 1023, an average orbital radius of 1 221 930 km and an orbital period of 15 days 22 hours and 41 minutes.
Saturn's Iapetus: Painted Moon- Vast sections of this strange world are dark as coal, while others are as bright as ice. The composition of the dark material is unknown, but infrared spectra indicate that it possibly contains some dark form of carbon. A leading hypothesis is that the dark material is mostly dirt leftover when relatively warm but dirty ice sublimates.
Titan's Changing Seasons This artist's impression of Saturn's moon Titan shows the change in observed atmospheric effects before, during and after equinox in 2009. The Titan globes also provide an impression of the detached haze layer that extends all around the moon (blue). This image was inspired by data from NASA's Cassini mission.
