the birth of Jesus is the story of life, of hope, of freedom.~ Luke 2:7 NLT 7 She gave birth to her first child, a son. She wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.
3. For this piece of artwork you would have to use context to figure out the meaning. If you do not know the story of the birth of baby jesus you would not know what this picture is about. By knowing about Mary giving birth to Jesus in a stable you would understand the meaning behind this work of art.
Faith in the true Incarnation of the Son of God is the distinctive sign of Christian faith: "By this you shall know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses Jesus Christ is the incarnate of God" (1 Jn 4, 2). This is the joyous conviction of the Church from its beginning to sing "the great mystery of godliness ':' He was manifest in the flesh"

I love this image because with the map of the world across Simeon it makes me think of the passage, "Behold this child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted" from http://starrymantle.blogspot.com/2010/10/praying-rosary-joyful-mysteries.html

For Simeon it was indeed the moment of a lifetime as it showed the fulfillment of God’s promise to him and to the world. Simeon holding Jesus, the Light of the World...a favorite painter Ron DiCianni--Outside Mary,Joseph & Jesus Simeon was my favorite Character right after Jesus's birth. He was promised he wouldn't die til he saw the Messiah. When he saw him he was so excited. It was a promise kept and fulfilled by God.
Simeon's Moment Ron DiCianni. I love this and it fits so well with the scripture! Just as I imagined Simeon would react when seeing the Messiah babe.

John 9:6-9 "...he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam”. So the man went and washed, and came home seeing." Jesus healed the blind man, he allowed his eyes to be opened. This is just one of the many acts of healing performed in the name of the Lord.
Christ heals the blind man. I love this painting by American artist, Walter Rane (b. 1949) who begin his career as primarily a book and magazine illustrator but now specializes in religious art. One of the things I love about this piece is that Christ's face is barely visible in the upper right corner, and yet his love and power dominate the painting. I also love the posture of the blind man, exerting all his strength to be available for that healing. Do we do the same?

Q: Why did Michelangelo never sign his work? A: The Renaissance masterpiece "The Pieta" is the only work that Michelangelo Buonarroti ever signed. He later regretted what he considered an outburst of pride and vowed to never sign another work again. The Pieta is housed at St. Peter Basilica in Vatican City.

Andrei Rublev. The prototype for this icon was the mysterious appearance of the Holy Trinity in the form of three travelers to Abraham and Sarah under the oak of Mamre. The Church specifically chose this particular icon because it most fully expresses the dogma of the Holy Trinity: the three angels are depicted in equal dignity, symbolizing the triunity and equality of all three Persons.
